Two CHEF’S COMBI devices deliver fresh food just in time for lunch at the Ortenau Montessori centre. Dishes and glasses are then efficiently washed in a HOBART hood-type dishwasher.
Children from all age groups are playing in the yard, the background noise can be clearly heard from the street. Then suddenly, all is silent. The pupils at the Ortenau Montessori centre make a beeline for the new timber-clad building. It's time for them to enjoy lunch together. Every day, around 250 meals are prepared for them in two groups. Up to school-leaving age, the primary school and non-denominational school are housed in one building, while a crèche and kindergarten are accommodated in an adjoining building. The schooling concept is based on taking responsibility for oneself and purposeful support. A fresh and healthy lunch is essential.
Three people currently work in the building's kitchen, which opened in 2025. They prepare the meals and wash the dishes. Every day, the meals are supplied fresh in Gastronorm containers, some of which are stored in a cool room. Two combi steamers then help to regenerate the meals so that everything is ready in time for the lunch break. "The CHEF’S COMBI is a dream device – it really makes things easy for us," enthuses Nicole Klumpp, who works in the kitchen. The biggest benefits are that the device is easy to operate and can be used to prepare different meals at the same time.
Afterwards, the porcelain plates, glasses and Gastronorm containers are washed in the extra-wide hood-type dishwasher in the adjoining room. Once the first children have brought their dishes back, the team gets to work washing them. "It's so easy to use: we open the hood. We slide in two racks. We close the hood. Job done," says Klumpp. And the work is completed quickly and hygienically.
